What oil are you using?

Postby speedracer170 » Mon Apr 22, 2013 8:35 pm

So what oil are you using for your race bike? I've been using Motul 10w-40 5100 synthetic blend but have been thinking about switching to Rotella T6. Also how often are you changing your oil, I usually do two race weekends before switching.

i have never ever cheaped on oil. something inside me says that if it is the blood of the engine, it is worth getting the best i can afford. i may not each lunch for a week for an oil change. but everytime i race my bike, my baby is running just as strong as when i put her away wet.
and i do oil and filter change, every like 3-4 race weekends and air filter clean after every weekend

Well this oil change I switched over to Rotella T6 after reading all the good reviews for it for bikes, doesn't smell as good as the Motul but I guess we will see how it holds up.

If you want good smelling oil you need to buy Klotz synthetic 2 stroke oil for your pit bike. It comes with a red label. That oil smells awesome.. lol

If ya want good smelling oil try a little castor base oil. Or if it can still be found a little Klotz "Super Klotz" it was a blend of castor and Klotz synthetic and smelled great in the 2 stroke bikes of yesteryear. Just add a couple of OZ. of it per gallon of gas for that great smell that makes people wonder.  :alien:

I think I still have a can or two of the old stuff stashed somewhere. :alien:
Super Klotz was a blend of Klotz 2 cycle oil and Blendzall. Don't remember the reason for the blend but it did have a fast smell to it.
Back in the 60's and before. Castrol R was the best you could use in any race bike. only you had to degum the rings often. :(

The best was Blendzall..."Black Label"....it had 15% nitro with just enough castor oil for 1 gallon of gas!!! It smelled awesome and was sure to seize your 2 stroke! I still have an unopened can of green label...1 can to 5 gallons of gas...ran it 5yrs in my Husky when I moto crossed in the mid 70's!! Gosh knows I miss that awesome smell!!!!!

Loren first time I ever seized a 2 stroke was when I switched to Klotz...you have to change jetting...what the hell is that...was dumb 16 yr old. Took me two months to save monies to buy a piston and rings...LOL!!!
