I did... First time too... Built a little paint booth out of PVC and drop plastic in my garage, bought a gun set from Harbour Freight, and paint from APYS and went to town... a buddy does vinyl too, so he hooked me up with all the decals as well... Painting, and all the other upgrades took about a month and a half to get everything in, installed, and painted...

If I wreck, then I rebuild... No big deal... I know it comes with the territory... Course I'll be running fresh paint, and a new suit, so I'll be a crash magnet... I'll just lay the bike over, and roll around on the asphalt with the new set of leathers...



From the sounds of it, I really don't want BlendedFamily to ride it...

Tibo hardly ever visits the boards, and I think he was heading to California for something this week too..

And Blendedfamily is okay to ride your bike, as long as you're not really partial to your new paint job, wheels, tank and frame.

Was hoping to get linked up with some people to split the costs and just be able to lend a hand. I don't plan to head to the track alone, for my first few trackdays... At least, if I can help it...

not too many elpasoans really come out for track days. sometimes tibo brings some of his crew on sundays, but sometimes not. your best bet is to somehow get to cruces, there are a few folks who come down from cruces that are usually able to help out.

Simon and Lee occasionally come to trackdays from el paso, but they're on the extreme west side, like Vinton. The biggest issue with quite a few people making it from El Paso is transportation, I think quite a few more people would come if they could get a ride out here.

I was just thinking the same thing but you beat me to the post.
Don't think anyone could make a living that way but you sure could make enough to pay for the trip and track day and/or a race or two.
Find a first timer or two each trip and get an extra bonus with first time trackday dixcount certificate's
To bad I don't live in EP I have the van/bus and a 24ft flat bed trailer that would do the job.
I think I need to set things up and try and recruit a few riders from up Albq. way.

You'd be Just Like Ted (Rich).

And I think you'd need a commercial hauler and people-hauler license, too. Further, I think the BP checkpoint climbing the hill from 'Cruces would take you a lot longer with the commerical paperwork.

Make your bike street legal enough that you can ride it to the track.
Many years ago "my" race bike was also my primary transportation vehicle and a couple of times I rode it to the race track put on my number plates and raced it. And while there found someone to haul me and by bike home..

Come on out to the track to watch and hang out. meet a few of us. A good chance you will meet someone that can get you and your bike here for the next trackday..Not everyone checks this board. every day/week/month/ever..
and as we all know- where theirs a will there is a way..

What kind of car do you have? A small single bike trailer can be towed behind pretty much any car. We've got a guy who tows behind his Saab all the time.

Harbor Fright has all kinds of small trailers, throw a Bike channel on one and there you go. I can even remember way back ( and I mean way way back ) when I just lifted the bike up, got the front wheel in the trunk, strapped it down and away I went !!! I wish I could help in some other way but we are out of Phoenix so El Pisso is kind of out of the way !!!
