Less to do More

I got this crazy idea that the only way I am going to pick up my pace any is to ride something with less power. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am slower than a turtle and as timid of rider as could be found. That being said a good friend of mine brought his Ninja 500 out to Arroyo last time and I had a great time riding it, but the thing is I actually felt faster on it than I did on my MW. So I have gone off and bought a track prepped 03 SV650 and am going to try that. Not sure how it is going to all work out, and still not sure that you can teach a old dog new tricks, but I have not given up yet !!!

I think it's a good idea Jeff. I've gotten so used to people not listening to my pleas for them to start with a lw bike and learn first that I've quit saying it. I believe they're a great learning tool, learned on one myself.

and they're cheap, too. I'm glad the F3 was my first bike -- not truely a LW, but it was a good starter bike. I was really really thinking about picking up an SV after this last fiasco, but I found a fuggin' smokin' deal on a 2011 ZX10R here in town...

Loren, was looking at a couple of 250 Ninjas but then this SV popped up, for less money and it was all setup to go, even sprung close to my weight !! I do know that a couple of the other guys are actively looking for lite weight track bikes and that after Zack heals up, is talking about racing his 500 Ninja.

Against what? Unless there's other bikes in the class, it's going to beat 250s and suck compared to SVs.

I was actually thinking of putting the zx6 up for sale but my girl doesnt want me to sell it. She said no lmao. Didn't take too much to convince me.....I love her! I'm keeping it for now haha

Only way to be competitve with the Sv's is with the Kawi 650 or spending way too much money to make a Honda Hawk competitive. I've spent almost enough..

get a few 250's on the track and we will have a 250 race..and class
In fact Roger already has trophy plates made up for a 250 supersport class.
a few more ninjettes and we will have a real class..
Just like at every other track/club in the country..
And a set of tires could last you all season for less dough then one tire for a 600/1000.

My feeling too, at least at the track it seems !!! I got a friend Mark who keeps asking me why I am so slow at the track but have no issue doing 100 + mph sweepers out on the country roads we frequent !! Of course I do not remember ever doing any sweepers at that speed but he says I do ??? Maybe it is just my senile memories .

+1 on what roger said about starting out small. most people i know couldnt even ride a sv650, ninja 250/500 to their maximum potential on a track anyways. i learned on a small cc bike. greatest thing i have ever done, and to be honest, i think i still have more FUN haulin' on a small bike.

With all the talk of smaller bikes just want to throw it out there that I still have my 05 R6 for sale. Full race setup.
