If you ever raced a mid-atlantic region WERA race there is a very good chance Al Wilcox Was the race starter.
I am figure that very few racers from this part of the country knew or ever ment Al. He was a man who lived for motorcycle racing. He raced at Daytona when the track was still part of the beach.
If you knew or knew of Al Wilcox I have some sad news.

This is a man that I will never forget. At the end of each race when you crossed the start finish line - be it first or last he waved that checkered flag for you in such a way that you felt as if you had just won the world championship..
Rest in peace Al Wilcox
